Signal and Power Switches
Universal Digitally Controlled Analog Switches/Multiplexers
Our switches produce fast pulsed voltages with switching times as low as a few ns. They combine several digitally controlled electronic analog switches in a single device and are produced with a selectable number of switch channels, with the maximum number depending on the series. Each channel is a digitally controlled electronic analog switch for which the user can specify the switchable voltage.
The function of each channel corresponds to a conventional electromechanical relay, but the switching times are in the nanosecond range and the digital control inputs have a high input impedance. Similarly to an electromechanical relay, the control inputs are galvanically isolated from the signal lines, but they are galvanically connected to the device case.

#Signal Switches (AMXT, AMXR)
Applications
- Designed for driving small loads
- Control of ion optics, e.g. entry or exit electrodes of ion traps, differential lenses, or BNGs (Bradbury-Nielsen gates)
- Drivers of piezoelectric and electromagnetic valves or small motors
Properties
- Maximum operating voltage (selectable for each channel separately): up to 1.5 kV (3 kV or more upon request)
- Passive cooling for low output powers (several W)
- Pulse bursts with high output frequencies possible

#Power Switches (19AMX, AMXR)
Our power switches differ from the signal switches by significantly higher switchable powers (i.e. higher output currents) and higher maximum switchable output energies per pulse.
Applications
- Designed for driving high capacitances at high frequencies
- In combination with matching power supplies:
Supply of digital ion traps (DITs) or other electrodynamic multipoles: ion or nanoparticle traps, ion funnels, ion guides, and also quadrupole mass filters- Optional high-voltage isolation allows for controlling traps operating at large bias potentials
- Trilevel option: third output level allows for field-free phases and undisturbed injection, extraction, and/or manipulation of charged particles
- Drivers for electromagnetic and piezoelectric valves and apertures
- Motor drivers
Properties
- Maximum operating voltage (selectable for each channel separately): up to 1.5 kV
- Active (forced-air) cooling can dissipate high output powers (~ 100 W per channel)
- Optional liquid cooling for quiet high-power operation (> 100 W per channel)
- Continuously high output frequencies possible (typically 5 Mhz)
