Explanation of Options (AMXT)

This overview describes the options denoted by additional letters in the names of our switches.
If you wish to add any of these options to a device, do not hesitate to contact us or configure a custom switch.

#Switch Types

Selectable for each switch channel separately

Standard

Dual-level switch
  • Output Out switches between two voltage levels Vneg and Vpos or has a high impedance (also called Hi-Z or Tristate) when the switch is deactivated
  • Controlled by one digital signal, polarity selectable
  • Vneg ≤ Vout ≤ Vpos must be fulfilled at all times (even when the switch is deactivated)

Option T (Trilevel)

Three-level switch
  • Output Out switches between three voltage levels Vneg, Vmid, and Vpos or has a high impedance (also called Hi-Z or Tristate) when the switch is deactivated
  • Controlled by two digital signals, polarities and control logic selectable
  • Vneg ≤ Vout ≤ Vpos and Vneg ≤ Vmid ≤ Vpos must be fulfilled at all times (even when the switch is deactivated)
  • For applications such as injection, compression and ejection of ions

#Isolation

Selectable for each switch channel separately

Standard

  • Maximum isolation voltage: 2.1 kV
  • Maximum burst frequency: > 10 MHz
  • Minimum pulse duration: < 50 ns
  • Propagation delay: 65 ns
  • Jitter: < 1 ns

Option H (HV Isolation)

High-voltage isolation
  • Maximum isolation voltage: 3 kV (5 kV or more upon request)
  • Maximum burst frequency: 2 MHz
  • Propagation delay: 120 ns

#Power Supply

Modification of entire device

Standard

  • Nominal operating frequency of the auxiliary switching regulators: 125 kHz
  • Optional dithering control

Option N (Low Noise)

Power supply optimized for low noise level at the switch output
  • Shielded transformers
  • Nominal operating frequency of the auxiliary switching regulators: about 28 kHz
  • Low high-frequency noise due to resonant converters
  • Optional dithering control

#Additional Features

Modification of entire device

Option E (Enable)

TTL input for enabling or disabling all switches
  • Connector: BNC socket
  • Input level: TTL
  • Polarity selection: slide switch on the rear panel

Option F (Fan)

Fan for active cooling of the switches
  • For operation at higher frequencies and/or loads
  • Recommended for switching powers above 1 W
